More people will be forced to turn to charitable organizations to get food, diapers, period supplies, and other basic necessities as a result of ruling.

This policy moves our country backwards, hurting children, families, and communities ... we need to invest in common-sense solutions that enable families to thrive and live full, productive lives. ”
— Joanne Goldblum, CEO National Diaper Bank Network

NEW HAVEN, CT, UNITED STATES, January 27, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The National Diaper Bank Network has issued the following statement from CEO Joanne Goldblum, in response to today’s decision by Supreme Court of the United States to allow the Trump administration's “public charge” rule to be implemented nationwide.

“The National Diaper Bank Network is very disappointed with today’s Supreme Court decision to allow the Administration's public charge rule to take effect nationwide. As we have stated previously, forcing families to choose between their American dream or health care, food, housing, and other basic necessities, endangers the well-being of legal immigrants and their children, many of whom are US citizens.”

“This callous public policy choice exacerbates poverty, inequality, and hardship. Without government resources available to them, more people will be forced to turn to charitable organizations to get food, diapers, period supplies, and other basic necessities. The expected increase in people seeking help will further strain the limited resources of nonprofits and their ability to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Diaper banks across the country will see increased demand for their services at a time when we know we are only meeting a small percentage of overall need. This policy moves our country backwards, hurting children, families, and communities. Instead, we need to invest in common-sense solutions that enable families to thrive and live full, productive lives.”
