Nepal PM Oli claims ‘India role’ in pro-monarchy movement
A senior party office-bearer, present at the meeting, told The Indian Express that Oli vowed to get the former king, Gyandendra Shah, arrested

Nepal Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli has claimed that India has played a role in the country’s pro-monarchy movement and vowed to “expose” it in Parliament, a senior member of his party told The Indian Express.
Oli is learnt to have made the remarks at a meeting of central office-bearers of the ruling Communist Party of Nepal-UML three days back.
A senior party office-bearer, present at the meeting, told The Indian Express that Oli vowed to get the former king, Gyandendra Shah, arrested. The party member also quoted Oli as saying that he would “expose” India in Parliament on Wednesday for its “role in the movement”.
Shah on Sunday offered prayers at Manakamana Temple in Gorkha. He was given a rousing reception in Nuwakot.
Meanwhile, Oli’s attempts to forge a united front of three biggest political parties against former king hit a roadblock as the Nepali Congress, the biggest partner in the ruling coalition, Sunday decided to “defend the Constitution” but refused to form a front with the CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre.
Sources said Nepali Congress chief Sher Bahadur Deuba is in favour of such a front but the idea was rejected by the performance assessment committee of the party on Sunday.
Former PM and CPN-Maoist Centre chief Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is believed to have assured Oli of his support if the former king is arrested.
