'We don’t tip terrorist': Waiter gets racist note instead of tip
One West Texas server’s Facebook post went viral after he shared a photo of a receipt where the patrons denied him a tip but instead left a note.
Khalil Cavil was waiting tables on Saturday at Saltgrass Steak House in Odessa, when he discovered the patrons left a note on the receipt. According to Cavil’s Facebook post his name “Khalil” was circled on the receipt with “We don’t Tip Terrorist” written across the top.
“I share this because I want people to understand that this racism, and this hatred still exists. Although, this is nothing new, it is still something that will test your faith,” Cavil wrote on the post. “I have decided to let this encourage me, and fuel me to change the world the only way I know how.”
The post has received more than 3,000 likes and more than 1,900 shares since it was first published.
In response to the incident, Saltgrass Steak House COO Terry Turney released the following statement:
"We stand by and support our employee. Racism of any form is unacceptable and we have banned this customer from returning to our establishment."
